Fund Raising

Bradbourne Group Riding for the Disabled Association

Registered Charity No: 1122480

Bradbourne RDA is a charitable organisation that relies on donations and volunteers to run it. We really appreciate the fund-raising help we receive from local individuals, businesses and voluntary organisations. Money received goes towards the upkeep of horses and ponies, the purchase of equipment for riders and carriage drivers, special projects and insurance and veterinary fees.

BRADBOURNE RDA SUPPORTERS

As a charitable Company Limited by Guarantee, we do not have members but instead we have supporters and we welcome supporters whether they be riders, helpers, parents, carers - or anyone who supports us in any capacity.  We do not ask for a subscription but would very much appreciate a donation of your choosing. The new “supporter’s year” will run from 1st April 2011 until 31st March 2012.

Anyone can become a supporter; please click here for a printer friendly Supporter Form. Supporters will receive a Bradbourne RDA badge and will be invited to supporter activities such as our annual meeting.

HEART OF THE COMMUNITY AWARD

We are very pleased to announce that we have been awarded a major prize in the 2011 Courier Media Group ‘Heart of the Community Awards’ sponsored by AXA PPP.

This year’s awards had an environmental theme and we applied for funding to provide a set of recycling bins for our new clubhouse.

Representatives of AXA PPP and the Sevenoaks Chronicle visited Bradbourne on Thursday 31st March to present us with a cheque for the amazing sum of £500 and a glass commemorative plaque.

We would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to the award’s organisers and sponsors -and of course to everyone who voted for us!

CHARITY GOLF DAY

Our Charity Golf Day held on Friday 27th May 2011

was a huge success and raised over £9,000 towards our new clubhouse.

Bradbourne RDA is registered with the government's Gift Aid scheme so we are able to reclaim, direct from the Inland Revenue, the basic-rate tax paid on donations and subscriptions by tax-paying supporters. This amounts to an extra 25p for every £1 donated - at absolutely no cost or inconvenience to the donor.

Higher-rate taxpayers will benefit personally by being able to re-claim the difference between the basic and higher-rate tax paid.

Bradbourne RDA is able to reclaim tax on all eligible donations made since 6th April 2000. So if you are a taxpayer and have made a donation or paid a subscription to Bradbourne RDA at any time since 6th April 2000 (or are likely to do so in the future) we would be very grateful if you could complete a Gift Aid declaration by clicking the link below, or the next time you visit Bradbourne. We will do all the rest. Thank you very much.

Bradbourne RDA is now registered with the not-for-profit fundraising website www.virginmoneygiving.com

If you are taking part in a sponsored event or fundraising activity - or even celebrating a special occasion where donations would be preferable to gifts - we can help you set up your own Virgin Money Giving page - just get in touch via our Contact Us page.

We are very grateful to the many groups, charities and individuals who have been extremely generous in their support over the years.

We are immensely grateful to Lord Sackville and the Knole Park estate managers for generously permitting us to hold our major annual fund-raising event, the Knole Pleasure Ride, in the beautiful setting of Knole Park on 1st October 2011. Our thanks also go to Sevenoaks Riding Club for offering us the use of their base at Redlands, as well as the local landowners who kindly granted us access to their land and the many volunteers who gave us their help on the day.

On Sunday 4th July 2010, a Dog Fun Day was held at Bradbourne. Photos are available from www.animalimages.org.uk. We are very grateful to the organisers and participants who made it such a successful event.

Pet portraits We are very grateful to animal artist Martyn White who has generously offered to donate a proportion of his fee to anyone who mentions Bradbourne RDA at the point of ordering a commission or purchasing a print from him.

Martyn specialises in creating original oil paintings from favourite pet photographs. He kindly painted the picture of Hannah on the left which featured on our 2008 Christmas card. Many more of his delightful paintings can be seen on his website: www.oilpaintingsbymartynwhite.co.uk.

The Kent branch of the British Motorcycle Federation have given us incredibly generous support for many years, including purchasing Polly and Dudley for us and making a substantial contribution towards the purchase of Finn (see Horses page).

The Sevenoaks Charity Darts League have been similarly supportive and their donations have enabled us to buy a range of equipment including, most recently, a new set of riding hats.

If you would like to make a donation, or have some fundraising ideas, or are part of a local fundraising group who would like to help, please get in touch via our Contact Us page.

CLUBHOUSE PROJECT

Our clubhouse plays an essential part in our activities and is used for training sessions and social events as well as being the hub of our day-to-day activities and summer camps.

Thanks to generous grants from a number of individuals and organisations, we have finally (June 2011) been able to re-build our clubhouse.  We now have a building to be proud of which will serve us well for many years to come.

The equipping of the clubhouse has been funded by a £10,000 grant from the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund and we should like to acknowledge all the generous donations we have received for this project which have enabled us to purchase a fantastic new clubhouse and equip it.

Special mention should go to:

Bailey Thomas Charitable Trust

Bernard Sunley Charitable Trust

Colyer Fergusson Charitable Trust

Cory Environmental Trust

Henry Smith Charitable Trust

Rooney Foundation

The Wolfson Foundation

Wooden Spoon Society

KNOLE PARK PLEASURE RIDE

Thank you to everyone who took part in our 2011 Knole Park Fundraising Ride on 1st October. The money raised by the ride helps us continue providing opportunities for our disabled riders and carriage drivers and this year’s ride has raised nearly £3,500 so far, with more sponsorship money still to come in.

See our Knole Ride news page for more details.

The official photographs from the ride are available at www.animalimages.org.uk

WHITE STUFF FOUNDATION

We are delighted to announce that Bradbourne RDA has entered into a partnership with the White Stuff Foundation, the charity arm of fashion retailers White Stuff, and the Sevenoaks branch will be supporting and fundraising for us.

A number of events will be held over the coming months, including a fundraising walk ‘across Kent’ - on a treadmill in the store. The walk is a total of 56 miles, equivalent to two marathons, and we are very grateful to the Sevenoaks White Stuff team for their fantastic efforts on our behalf.  Please see our ‘What’s On’ page for more details.
