The Bradbourne horses and riders did us proud at the 2011 RDA National Championships at Hartpury College on 9th & 10th July.

Polly and Bisto seemed quite happy on their five hour journey to Gloucestershire in Jenna’s lorry, thanks in no small measure to their hay nets being kept well-stocked throughout the trip!

And once they got to Hartpury they stayed in the most spacious stables imaginable, complete with a high quality straw bed that even provided the occasional snack when required. (It’s hungry work competing at National level)!

Bradbourne riders Brian, Denise and Isobel all exceeded expectations, overcoming their nerves to show their mettle against a large number of high quality competitors.

To qualify for the National Championships is a huge achievement and to perform so well at the event is something they should feel very proud of.

We’re certainly very proud of them!

But when the time came to be smartened up for their events, they submitted themselves without complaint to being trimmed, plaited, washed and groomed until every part of them gleamed.

It was a busy weekend for everyone, with riders as well as helpers lending a hand to get the ponies and their tack up to competition standard.

And once in the arena, they and their riders rose to the occasion, despite some very damp weather and lots of unfamiliar distractions.
